Choosing accessories that reflect the REAL you.

Updated: Jul 27, 2021

The struggle is real, one day you are beyond excited over finally finding the perfect gown, and the next 7 nights you lie sleepless agonizing over the search for matching accessories. You are torn between the daily you (darkly witty, a bit awkward, and drawn toward an edgier look) and the "pageant contestant" you. Guess what? They can be the same you!!!

Pairing extra long crystal skull earrings with that soft and sweet polka dot gown might not be for everyone, but if it's you hunny it's YOU. Today's pageant judges are looking for something more, more than the typical perfectly peppy pageant queen that has become the archetype. They want to see more depth, struggle, and realness. The last thing you want to do is go the safe route or choose a style that you think THEY want to see. If you are staying true to yourself every step of the way you will succeed in your mission.

Okay, so what if I am a total tomboy and I don't like too much glitz? No worries, choose a non-coated crystal in a moody color like burgundy or navy, or select a chain drop style with mixed grey metals.

What if I like whimsy and fantasy-inspired clothing? That's easy, pick the pair that is having as much fun as you are! A flutter shape, or mixed shapes and colors. Go the extra step with a dangle jacket-style earring that has a stud in front of the ear lobe and a dangling shape behind the lobe!

What if I want to be risky, let my edgy style really show? Don't shrink away from your personal style! Moto jackets and combat boots can easily inspire chrome and hematite Swarovski rhinestone earrings. Dagger shapes, chains, and that high-end crystal skull might be the perfect touch.

As long as you are true to yourself the audience and judges will adore you and standing out from a sea of contestants who went the safe route can very well push you into the spotlight!

We want to hear from you! How do you like to stand out on the stage and off? What is unique about you that you can incorporate into your personal style? Comment on the blog post and we will select one lucky winner who will receive a FREE pair of Calypso Co Jewelry stage earrings!
